Forum Founder Spotlight of the week: Tiara Diadem Founder

KPF: Are you feeling down lately? or maybe bored? or just want to read something interesting? well you're in luck today! 'Cause the founder that we're gonna introduce to you is a very inspiring, kind, understanding and one of the most friendly in the world of Kpop Forums, we've received a lot of requests about her and we Forum Founders have also been mentioning her name in their interviews in the past. We can assure you will not only be inspired after reading this interview but you will also laugh and maybe run to Tiara Diadem and make friends with her
KPF: What is your birthname? And other nicknames that people usually call you?
Elly: My birth name is Chalice. Online and in real life, I can never escape the Charice references so online, I'd rather go by Elly… And besides, people mispronounce my name all the time haha. Elly's more straight-forward.
KPF: When are you born?
Elly: 93-liner, baby. July 10th (same birthday as one of my forever biases, Mr. Kim Heechul haha~ just felt like pointing that out :P)
KPF: Where is your birthplace? Where are you currently residing?
Elly: I was born in the Philippines and lived there until I was 10 years old. I moved to Canada after and I'm currently residing in Toronto. ^^
KPF: If you could describe yourself, what would you say?
Elly: I think for the most part… I'm balanced? Is that the right word, lol? I think I'm friendly (lol) and I'm hyper all the time. I talk a lot, I'm very random, I'm passionate about the stuff I care about (wow, sounds redundant), pretty crazy and obsessed with Kpop (definitely lol). I get confused easily, though. But at the same time, I don't tolerate a lot of things and can have a slight temper issue lol… If there's one thing you can be sure about though, I'm pretty transparent online and offline. So what you see is basically what you'll get when you meet me IRL T.T (I don't know if that's a good thing tbh, but I'm proud nonetheless).
KPF: How did you get into kpop?
Elly: I got into K-Pop through Taiwanese music (is that weird?). When Meteor Garden came out in 2002 in the Philippines, I got hooked into it and the F4 band… and ever since I started following Taiwanese groups and singers. With that said, Vanness Wu had a collaboration with Kangta during 2005 or so? And then from then on, I kinda branched out from Taiwanese stuff and completely converted to K-Pop; although I do still listen to some Chinese and Taiwanese music from time to time.
KPF: How long have you been a kpop fan?
Elly: Since 2005? 2006? So about 5-6 years…
KPF: What kpop artist/group did you noticed first?
Elly: I noticed Kangta first, obviously lol since the Vanness Wu collaboration… But the first people per say that got me completely into K-Pop were Se7en and Rain. Those two were my first biggest K-pop obsessions.
KPF: What inspired you to establish this forum?
Elly: Eunjung, haha. Back then, when I heard about T-ara, I thought their name was ridiculous… But when I saw their profiles, I fell in love with Eunjung almost instantly; and then I heard their vocals in Good Person and decided right there and then that I needed to do something for these Girls.
KPF: What are the advantages and disadvantages of being a founder?
Elly: I guess the one of the advantages to being a Founder is having access to everything in the Forum and having control over it (I'm saying this in the most non-power-hungry manner possible… Seriously though, lol). Another thing too recently, that I really love about being Founder is being able to interact with the Korean fans for projects and collaborations. During the past year and a half, I learned a lot about Korean fans and believe it or not, they're really friendly and nice (way nicer than International fans) and I think I'm only able to have that kind of opportunity because of the work I have to do for Diadem's projects.
I think some of the disadvantages include the work that you have to do and the work expected to be done by you. Lately, it's a little better since our Staff has become so great at keeping the Forum up and running smoothly. But back then, I had a lot of trouble enjoying my T-ara fandom (quite frankly) because of the stuff I had to do for Diadem. Normally, people would be able to watch videos and participate in discussions about the Girls; but in my case, I wasn't able to watch as many shows as soon as I wish I could've because I'd be working instead of watching videos of the Girls or doing normal fan-stuff.
Now, now, I'm not saying that I'm not a normal fan. Don't get me wrong, lol. I think it's just that staff members have to do more and sometimes might not have as much time to do other fan-things… lol. Oh, and another thing I think that frustrates me about being so-called 'Founder' is that people I guess expect me to know every single little detail about the Girls… LOL But, honestly, I really don't know everything about the girls and you guys (other T-ara fans) probably know more than me in some aspects… I mean, I try my best, but I really don't know everything LOL.
This is getting long, and it's starting to look like there are more disadvantages lol, but let's just drop the whole "Founder" image and get along like normal fans LOL. So much pressure from all the Founder business. Let's try to keep low-profiles, shall we? : P
KPF: When you are in the process of establishing this forum, what did you expect from it?
Elly: The reason why I made Diadem was because I liked the way forums worked… I liked how forums organized the information really well for Fans to read and take. So, with that said, I just wanted to make a clean and organized place where T-ara fans can chill, interact, and grab updates from. That's what forums are for, right? ^^
KPF: Tiara Diadem is currently a very successful forum, did you expect it to be this successful?
Elly: Well, every person who puts time and effort into something wishes for their stuff to become successful, right? So, yes. I did hope (expect is too intense a word for how I really feel) that the forum will become successful later on. We're doing really well now, way better than I hoped; which I'm still trying to get used to lol if I'm going to be honest.
KPF: If you would rate yourself as a founder from 1-10, what would you give yourself and why?
Elly: I'd rate myself a six (6). This is mainly because the Staff have been really doing all of the work on the forum, lately. I also have a lot of thing to learn too, as a 'Founder' (grrr, that Founder-image again, so annoying lol), I don't think I'm quite up to the right standards yet.
KPF: Which member of T-ara is your favourite?
Elly: I'd like to say Qri's my favourite, lol. I say it that way because I always think that Kyul indeed is my favourite, but every time I see videos of the other members, all seven of them seem to kinda even out into one rank lol. But I do spazz about Qri a lot, I'm not gonna lie.
 What do you like about T-ara?
Elly: T-ara… Besides the fact that they're extremely talented and beautiful, they're hard-working, humble, and love their fans a whole lot. I love how they interact with fans and I find it so nice that they take the time to really get to know their fans by name as much as they can. Not to mention the amount of charity work they do, too. I don't think listing reasons would really describe how much I love these Girls… Cuz' even their awkwardness on Variety shows and their mild mistakes onstage make me love them.
KPF: Besides T-ara is there any other artists that you like? (kpop or non-kpop)
Elly: I love Infinite, too. I can't keep up with a lot of artists at the same time lol. My world basically revolves around T-ara and Infinite (sometimes U-KISS). Ah, and I love Lee Minho (he's not an artist, I know, but I need to include him here because he's part of my World too LOL)
KPF: Is there any other forums that you are active or you signed up with? If yes, please say so
Elly: Sadly, no. Ever since Diadem became a little more intense than a hobby of mine, I haven't been able to go sign up and participate in other forums. I don't even know what forums are out there anymore… Too fixated on Diadem, to be quite honest.
KPF: Being a founder takes a lot of time, effort and money, how does it affect your daily life?
Elly: Hmm. It affects my daily life in a pretty intense way… Less than it used to, but overall, it does translate over to my real life. I used to get really stressed out and sad about the stuff that people say about the forum, since the Staff and I do work our butts off to get stuff up… But lately, I haven't been as affected. I learned to kinda just let it slide and realized that we can't please everyone, although we try our best to lol. The only thing I think that still translates now into my real life is that on my way to and from school, I think about what kind of things to do to improve the forum lol. Ideas are hard to come up with that's why lol.
KPF: In your experience of being a founder what is the hardest thing or crisis have you encountered? Elly:In facing that crisis, was there a time that you thought of giving up? Who helped you encounter that crisis?
Hardest thing would definitely have to be dealing with criticism, demands, and negativity. People sometimes go way overboard with their comments and disregard and undermine the hard work that was involved in doing the things that Forums do. I mean, this might sound rude, but I guess I could understand since so many people are so ignorant of the amount of work it really does take to get stuff working the way Forums do. Because of the comments and demands in the past, there've been sometimes when I wanted to stop running Diadem; this is because, in essence, we ARE doing the things we do out of our free time, and to have people flame you for the favour you're doing them, it feels like crap, honestly lol. During times like that, Diadem Staff just kinda stick together and keep on going and we support each other… Kinda laugh it off, and then just try to be better in the future. We can't please everyone, and we understand that. No use wallowing in self-pity. That doesn't get anything done.
KPF: Is there any kpop forum founder that you look up to?
Elly: Not entirely, I think there's something a thing or two to learn from every forum Staff member. Not just Founders. I don't even need to look beyond our Staff, there's a lot of people in our Staff that I wish I was like lol. A lot of our staff members are really motivated lol. I wish I was always ready to work.
KPF: Who are your closest friends in this forum and other forums?
Elly: In Diadem… We're all pretty close, to be honest. With the newer staff members, obviously we still need to do some getting-to-know-each-other. In terms of closeness though, I'm really close with Mark, Tiffany, Linda, and Nathaniel. Other forums… Well, I'm not entirely sure, since I don't really acquaint myself with forums anymore and who works where, but (outside of Diadem) I'm really close with Saejin from SPL.
KPF: Does your family and friends know that you’re a founder of this forum?
Elly: Yeah, they do. My family all love K-Pop (except for my Mom, lol) and lately, they're starting to understand more and more how the whole Forum business works; but my parents used to think it was weird. My siblings think it's cool. My Dad though lately is understanding more and is becoming more lenient during the times that I have to stay up late for Forum work lol.
KPF: How do you feel being a founder of this forum and working with other staff?
Elly: Great. I've learned a lot of things and made a lot of amazing friends. Without Diadem, I don't think I would've met these people and I think it's nice that they share the same passion as you.
KPF: Besides going to the forums, what are your other hobbies?
Elly: K-Pop. LOL. No, just kidding. Well, not entirely. I'm pretty into K-Pop (believe me when I say that). I love to sing and dance. I love Graphic Design and I love reading Fashion Magazines… Oh, and I take Korean dramas very, very seriously - I'm like an ahjumma when it comes to those dramas. LOL. It's serious business for me.
KPF: An interesting fact about yourself that no one in the forums know?
Elly: Like I said before, I'm pretty transparent lol. So I don't know if there really is anything that people don't know about me… I'm the same online and offline LOL. I don't know if this is interesting enough to count, but I'm a little bit scared of the dark and I've been hit by an SUV before LOL (I'm ok, though).
KPF: In opening for applications for staff, what are the qualities that you look for?
Elly: You need to love T-ara. Sounds cliche, but we need people who really, truly love the Girls. While we look for experience and good English-skills, if we see that your passion for T-ara is deep enough, with or without experience and good English-skills, you'd probably make it. Experience and skills help, but if you don't love T-ara, you won't have the motivation and take the initiative to do things properly for the Girls and Diadem. Loving T-ara, for the most part, is good enough. We can teach you the rest. Our Staff members are pretty good at training new staffs lol.
KPF: Are you alone when making decisions for the forum?
Elly: Hell no, LOL. I always consult Mark and Nathaniel before I make any immediate decisions for the Forum.
KPF: What are your current projects in the forum?
Elly: We're working on our Food Support for Jiyeon's 'Dream High 2' drama and working on starting up Boram's birthday project for 2012. We're looking into starting our birthday project for Hwayoung as well.
KPF: What does Tiara Diadem mean to you?
Elly: It's like family…? I'm not very great with words… How can I describe this without sounding cheesy…? Family is like the number one most important thing in my life - I love my family like you won't believe and I think Diadem to me is like that. Like family members, they're really great but at the same time, there are instances where you just want to strangle and kill each other… Although that's the case, you can't live without it either way. I mean, there are A WHOLE LOT of times when I really want to rip Diadem to shreds because of all the stress it gives me, but at the same time, I love it so much that if I did rip it apart, I'd probably feel pretty crappy and empty. It's really become a big part of my life, haha.
KPF: What are your dreams and ambitions for the forums and yourself?
Elly: I hope we'll continue to do well in supporting the Girls, since that's what we created Diadem for in the first place. For myself, I hope I can become a K-Pop idol and have a forum made for me as well in the future… LOL omg, no I'm just kidding (not 100% kidding on the K-Pop idol thing though, I'd like to have a kick at that). Jokes aside, I hope I'll be able to learn a lot more so I can be a better leader and be a more efficient 'Founder' for Diadem.
KPF: What makes you happy?
Elly: K-Pop and Korean Dramas. Haha. Those are my shallow obsessions. But in totality, I'm not really sure. Happiness is relative and I haven't found my meaning of happiness as of yet. For now, I'm pretty content with what I have and I feel blessed being surrounded by the people around me and for the time being, I'll settle with that ^^
KPF: If you’re not the founder, what kind of position would you have? (Tech Admin, Uploader, Global Elly:Mod....)
I'd rather not be a staff member at all LOL.
KPF: And last a message to the members of Tiara Diadem? And also a message for those who
Elly: haven’t signed up in Tiara Diadem?
Members: You guys are awesome, you need to realize that. I seriously do not know how we're able to pull through all of our multiple projects at the same time, but we always do. The immense support that you guys show for all of the things T-ara and the Diadem staff do is honestly, ridiculously amazing. Keep it up. LOL, just kidding. For all the members, we'll always strive to give you the best of the Girls and as long as we all stick together like we always have, I'm sure we'll be able to achieve more things and get even more acknowledgement from the Girls in the Future. Without you guys, Diadem wouldn't be around anymore. Thanks so much ^^
Non-Members: I do not know why you kids haven't registered accounts yet at Diadem; but y'all need to get yourselves together and get on board. Just kidding T.T No, but seriously, get on registering those accounts lol. You guys should join, we're a great community of fans and we love T-ara, just like you. We don't bite.
KPF: Did you enjoy reading? Founder Elly is really one of the most aspiring forum founders yet right? Please do anticipate more updates from KPF. We would just like to announce that as of today we have 2 forum founders in the process of the interview and 3 founders that is on our list of soon to be interviewed but we're still accepting requests from everyone so do drop in our ask box ok?

I wish that Apink forums would stop putting so much effort into subbing APink news season 2 when they haven’t even finished subbing season one. Anyway, it’s not like season two isn’t being subbed, pinkpandasubs are subbing it at a quicker rate. Can’t the two groups confer and decide this?

My favourite group is SNSD and my second favourite group is APink. As much as I like soshified (their subbing is great!), I have never, and doubt I will ever feel totally accepted. I feel much more at home at the apink forum (despite their slow subbing).

Anonymous sent: when will you interview the admins/founder of Elite-Rebels and Flighb1a4??

I already sent an interview to one of those forums like months ago but I’m still waiting for the reply :D And the other one is currently in our list of soon to be interviewed founder
